Pujiang Hotel has an another name-Astor House Hotel. It
is a three-star hotel, as it was known Richard's Hotel before,
was established in 1846 by the Richard's family. It is the very
first western hotel property all over China since Shanghai became
a trading port. The hotel moved to where it is now on the north
end of Baidu Bridge and renamed to Astor House Hotel in 1857.
To make it the most deluxe western hotel in the city and one of
the best in China and in the Far East, the hotel was restored
to a Baroque structure in 1907. Astor House Hotel is located in
the north side of Garden Bridge with shanghai city Mansion on
her neighboureside. It's very near to reach Bund and Nanjing Road-financial
&shopping center in shanghai with convenient transportation.
In present time, Astor House Hotel has 116 rooms including deluxe
rooms, standard rooms, 4-bed rooms and some big rooms decorated
in Barloke style of Victoria times in 19th century, they are very
spacious and bright with comfortable enviroment. Each room has
big sanitary place and satellite TV, IDT/DDT, air conditioner
and other modern equipments. Richard restaurant in Astor House
Hotel has a luxurious and spacious dining hall offering Huaiyang
style and Sichuan style dishes.
